Car fire in West Chicago

Not much going on lately, so when I heard the call for an engine at North Ave and Route 59, I figured I'd take a ride. I arrived just as West Chicago Engine 5 made a U-turn to head back in the westbound lanes of North Ave.

I had no idea what we were getting into, but it turned out to be a pretty intense scene. A car was fully engulfed in flames on the street, and the firefighters were working fast to contain it. It's always impressive to see how quickly they respond and how focused they are under pressure. The photos show some of the actionâ€”hoses being stretched, firefighters approaching the vehicle, and then checking things out once the fire was out. Itâ€™s a reminder of the risks they face every day and the importance of their work. Definitely a moment worth capturing.
