Braceville is added to MABAS Division 15

The Braceville Fire Department serves a 1.5-square-mile area in Grundy County, Illinois. The department is staffed by 17 dedicated volunteers who respond to both fire and emergency medical services (EMS) calls. They operate from a single station and maintain a fleet that includes two fire engines, one aerial ladder truck, a brush unit, an ambulance, and a Chevy Suburban. Notably, the ambulance and one of the engines were previously used by the Braidwood Fire Department, giving them a bit of a shared history. The department’s aerial unit is a 1979 Seagrave chassis with a 54-foot Squrt ladder, built by Pierce. This truck is equipped with 500 gallons of water and 500 gallons of foam, making it well-suited for a variety of incidents. Another engine, known as the "X-Braidwood" model, was manufactured in 1982 by Alexis on a Hendrickson 1871-C chassis. The “C” in the model designation stands for a contour cab, while Hendrickson also offered a square cab design at the time. This engine is set to be replaced in December with a new Spartan Metro Star Darley engine. The new engine will feature a powerful light tower and a full set of Genesis Rescue tools mounted both in the front bumper and at the rear, enhancing the department's response capabilities. These upgrades reflect the ongoing commitment of the Braceville Fire Department to provide efficient and effective service to their community.
