This report comes from Eric Haak:
On Sunday morning at approximately 0605 hours (February 12), the Englewood Fire Alarm Office received multiple calls reporting a fire at the intersection of 44th and Shields Avenue. Engine 50 arrived on the scene and confirmed a fire in a 2.5-story vacant frame building with exposure to a 1.5-story occupied frame. Just two minutes later, the 2nd Battalion reported heavy fire in the 2.5-story structure and requested additional resources. The first image below was taken just before Engine 50 deployed their deck gun, which significantly reduced the visible flames in the front of the building. There was extensive fire spread into the adjacent occupied structure, prompting an interior attack by responding units. Eventually, Squad 5’s Snorkel and Tower Ladder 39 were brought in to extinguish the remaining fire in the original building, which was undergoing renovation. An October 2015 Google Street view showed the building marked as Red-X, suggesting it had previously suffered a basement fire.
