East Joliet FPD updates

Subject: Update on Radio Identification Numbers and New Vehicle Addition Hi everyone, This message is from Scott Matthews, and he wanted to make sure we're all aware of some recent changes to our radio identification numbers. Here’s what he sent over: --- **Station 51:** - Engine 531 has been renumbered to Engine 51. - Tanker 537 is now called Tender 51. - Ambulance 534 is now Ambulance 51. - Squad 537 is now Squad 51. - Brush Truck 538 is now Brush 51. - Chief 500 is now Chief 51, while Chief 501 is now Chief 52. **Station 52:** - Engine 532 is now Engine 52. - Truck 529 is now Truck 52. - Ambulance 524 is now Ambulance 52. - Reserve Ambulance 535 is now Ambulance 53. **Station 53:** - Tanker 517 is now Tender 53. - Arson Buggy 518 is now Utility 53. A few additional notes from Scott: 1. Since January 1, 2013, due to budget cuts, Truck 52 has been relocated to Station 51. As a result, Reserve Engine 52 has been moved to Station 52 and serves as the primary response engine there. The Squad was also shifted to Station 52 because of limited space at Station 51. Additionally, Reserve Ambulance 53 is stationed at Station 52. 2. Our 2012 Ambulance 534 was repainted under warranty and renumbered to Ambulance 51 to align with the new call numbers. 3. We recently acquired a brand-new brush truck, which is a 2015 Ford F350 Super Duty extended cab. It will be equipped with a Darley Fast Attack skid unit, featuring a 300-gallon water tank, a 10-gallon foam tank, and a 100-foot 1-inch booster reel. It’ll also function as our plow truck during winter. I’ll share more photos once the attack unit is installed. --- And here’s a sneak peek of the new brush truck! Scott Matthews captured this image, and it looks like it’ll be an impressive addition to our fleet. ![Fire Department Pickup Truck](link-to-image) *Caption: New unit for East Joliet FPD – Brush 51. Galvanized Steel Pipe

Galvanized steel pipe is a kind of Carbon Steel Pipe, mostly welded pipe, Galvanized steel pipes are divided into cold galvanized steel pipes (electro galvanized steel pipes) and hot-dip galvanized steel pipes. At present, hot-dip galvanized steel pipes are mainly used in fire protection, electric power and highways.

Galvanizing can increase the corrosion resistance of steel pipes and prolong their service life. Galvanized pipes are widely used. In addition to being used as pipeline pipes for water transmission, gas, oil and other general low-pressure fluids, they are also used as oil well pipes and oil transmission pipes in the petroleum industry, especially in offshore oil fields, as well as pipes for oil heaters, condensing coolers, coal distillation oil washing exchanges of chemical coking equipment, as well as trestle pipe piles, support frames of mine tunnels, etc.

Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG), as referenced is the process of dipping fabricated steel into a kettle or vat of molten zinc.

Hot-dip galvanizing (HDG) is the process of coating iron, steel or ferrous materials with a layer of zinc. This done by passing the metal through molten zinc at a temperature of 860°F (460°C) to form zinc carbonate (ZNC03). Zinc carbonate is a strong material that protects steel and can prevent corrosion in many circumstances. Hot-dip galvanizing can be carried out cheaply and in large batches.
