Autodesk Expands Focus on IoT with Forge Fund Investment in Jumper.io

Autodesk has just announced its latest investment through the Forge Fund, this time in Jumper Labs, an Israel-based start-up specializing in embedded software simulation. The company operates online at jumper.io and offers a platform that simplifies the development and testing processes for embedded software used in IoT products. This investment is a continuation of Autodesk's efforts to assist manufacturers in creating smarter products and underscores their dedication to IoT as a key technology shaping the future of manufacturing. The current landscape in IoT product development is heavily skewed toward large enterprises with significant financial resources. These companies are often the only ones capable of simulating and testing IoT products within virtual environments. Jumper aims to level the playing field by providing tools that make it straightforward to simulate how embedded software will function before physical prototypes are built. This approach not only reduces R&D time but also accelerates product iterations and enables efficient testing of ongoing updates, such as security patches. Jumper is leveraging the Autodesk Forge Platform, which includes cloud services, APIs, and SDKs, allowing developers to swiftly build the data, applications, experiences, and services driving the future of manufacturing. As Jonathan Seroussi, co-founder and CEO of Jumper, expressed, "It's exciting to join Autodesk's expanding network and continue our partnership. This investment will empower us to focus on our goal of helping businesses create, test, and launch intelligent, connected products." Jonathan Seroussi’s journey with Autodesk is a story of reinvention. After selling his previous venture to Autodesk in 2009, he played a pivotal role in establishing the company's Tel Aviv office. Recently, he stepped away to co-found Jumper alongside CTO Dan Shemesh, a former Intel engineer, and Yaniv Nissenboim, who serves as VP of Product. Their collective expertise positions them to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in IoT product development. In December 2015, Autodesk introduced the Forge Fund, a substantial investment fund aimed at fostering innovation among companies utilizing the Forge platform. The fund represents a $100 million commitment to support startups creating cutting-edge solutions. This latest investment follows Autodesk's earlier support for IoT platforms like Seebo, further emphasizing their strategic focus on digital manufacturing and IoT. As Scott Reese, Vice President of Cloud Products at Autodesk, noted, "Israel is renowned for its innovative spirit, particularly within its startup ecosystem, where groundbreaking advancements in IoT product design, testing, and commercialization are happening. We're proud to back early-stage companies that are pushing boundaries in digital manufacturing and IoT, as demonstrated by our investments in Seebo and now Jumper." This latest move strengthens Autodesk's position as a leader in the IoT space, ensuring that the future of manufacturing remains dynamic and forward-thinking.
