By the end of 2013, Dongguan had to complete the task of transforming 200,000 LED street lights. As of December 2012, the city had installed 52,072 LED street lights.
It is understood that Dongguan City is accelerating the progress of the promotion and application of LED lighting products. At present, the transformation task of 200,000 LED street lamps has been assigned to various towns and streets and related transformation units.
According to preliminary estimates, the total investment of 200,000 LED street lamp renovation projects in Dongguan City is about 489 million yuan. If the total life of LED street lamps is 9 years (35,000 hours), the financial revenue will be 740 million yuan, saving 10.8 yuan. One hundred kilowatt hours is equivalent to saving 379,000 tons of standard coal, reducing sulphur dioxide emissions by 7,000 tons, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 268,000 tons, and reducing smoke and dust emissions by 7,000 tons.
