On September 28, the Second Committee of the Chinese Non-Ferrous Metals Industry Association (CNMIA) and its Disciplinary Inspection Commission held their first plenary session. During the meeting, key leadership positions were elected, including the Standing Committee members, the Secretary, and Deputy Secretaries of the second term of the CNMIA, as well as the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Disciplinary Inspection Committee. Kang Yi, Gao Dezhu, Zhao Jiasheng, Jiang Weixiang, Fan Shunke, Yang Bing, and Wang Jian were appointed as Standing Committee members of the Second Committee of the CNMIA. Kang Yi was re-elected as the Party Secretary of the State-owned Color Metal Industry Association. Gao Dezhu, Zhao Jiasheng, and Jiang Weixiang were selected as Deputy Secretaries, while Jiang Weixiang also took on the role of Secretary of the Disciplinary Inspection Committee. Duan Yan was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the committee. Kang Yi addressed the newly formed committee, emphasizing that the conference had been a successful, united, and encouraging event. He highlighted that the election of 17 members for the Second Party Committee and 7 members for the Disciplinary Committee reflected the strong consensus among delegates and the unity of the representatives. He pledged that the new members would work diligently to meet the expectations of the delegates and strive for excellence in all areas. In his speech, Kang Yi outlined three main points for the new committee: First, he stressed the importance of understanding the current situation. China’s non-ferrous metals industry is currently in a period of significant development opportunities. At the national level, the country is in a critical phase of building a moderately prosperous society, with economic growth and a maturing market economy. On the industrial front, the sector is undergoing rapid development, with enhanced overall strength and a more diversified enterprise structure. The association must play a vital role in coordinating and self-regulating the industry. Additionally, after five years of experience, the association has built a solid foundation for self-sufficiency and sustainable development. However, challenges remain, including internal contradictions and the need to adapt to a resource-efficient, environmentally friendly, and technology-driven society. Second, Kang emphasized the need to improve the overall quality and capacity of the association. This includes enhancing macroeconomic analysis, guiding industry development, strengthening coordination and self-discipline, leveraging resources for self-reliance, and promoting social harmony through effective party organization. Third, he called on the party committee to lead by example in five key areas: continuous learning, practicing the scientific development concept, fostering cooperation, embracing reform and innovation, and maintaining integrity and discipline. He urged the committee to stay up-to-date, think creatively, and ensure transparency and accountability in all operations. Overall, Kang Yi's speech underscored the importance of unity, innovation, and ethical leadership as the association moves forward in an evolving and competitive industry landscape.
