On the morning of September 29, the new stainless steel production line of the national key project Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group (TISCO) was officially completed and started operations. At the Taigang Coking Plant, under the command of the on-site team, the coke pusher, coke catcher, and quenching car were precisely aligned, and the furnace door was opened wide. Red-hot coke, under the force of the coke pusher, was smoothly guided onto the conveyor belt. The quenching car moved in, spraying water rapidly. Within just 50 seconds, the entire 46-ton batch of coke, which had been at 1200°C, was cooled down to 50°C. Throughout the process, there was not a single trace of smoke or dust. This set of 7.63m coke oven machinery, developed by Dalian Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., was successfully put into operation, marking China’s capability to design, manufacture, and operate large-scale, high-efficiency, environmentally friendly, and highly reliable coke oven systems, reaching world-class standards. According to reports, TISCO's new stainless steel project, with a total investment of 24 billion yuan, is currently one of the most advanced production lines globally. As a result, TISCO has become the largest stainless steel production base in the world. In this project, Dalian Heavy Industries provided over 400 million yuan worth of heavy equipment, including cranes, stacker-reclaimers, and ladle turrets, making it the largest supplier of heavy machinery in the project. Among these, the 7.63m coke oven machinery stands out as the most cost-effective in the world today. Its work efficiency is twice that of the widely used 6m coke ovens in China. The charging vehicle, coke-pushing vehicle, coke-closing vehicle, and quenching vehicle all incorporate advanced technologies such as negative pressure and dust removal. Their control system also features automatic ground alignment and centralized control, significantly improving automation levels and operational efficiency. Tasks that once required eight workers now only need four. The introduction of the first 7.63m coke oven machinery in the country caused a significant impact within the metallurgical industry. Many users have already visited and shown interest. Currently, the second set of coke oven machinery is being commissioned by Maanshan Iron and Steel Group, while the third set has already signed contracts with Wuhan Iron and Steel Group. Additionally, Shougang Group is preparing to purchase five sets of similar equipment as part of its relocation and transformation plan. This development highlights the growing confidence in China's heavy industrial capabilities and its ability to meet global standards.
