On the morning of September 29, the new stainless steel production line of Taiyuan Iron and Steel Group, a key national project, was officially completed and started operations. At the Taigang Coking Plant, under the command of the on-site team, the coke pusher, coke catcher, and quenching car were precisely aligned, and the furnace door was opened wide. Red-hot coke was pushed out by the coke pusher and guided onto the conveyor. The quenching car moved in, spraying water quickly, and within just 50 seconds, the entire 46-ton batch of coke—originally at 1,200 degrees—was cooled down to 50 degrees. Throughout the process, not a single particle of smoke or dust was visible. This advanced 7.63-meter coke oven machinery, developed by Dalian Heavy Industries Co., Ltd., has now been successfully put into operation, marking China's capability to design, manufacture, and operate large-scale, high-efficiency, environmentally friendly, and highly reliable coke oven systems, reaching world-class standards. According to reports, the new stainless steel project at TISCO, with a total investment of 24 billion yuan, is currently the most advanced production line in the world. As a result, TISCO has become the largest stainless steel production base globally. In this project, Dalian Heavy Industries supplied over 400 million yuan worth of heavy equipment, including cranes, stacker-reclaimers, and ladle turrets, becoming the largest supplier of heavy machinery in the industry. Among these, the 7.63-meter coke oven machinery stands out as one of the most cost-effective in the world. Its operational efficiency is twice that of the widely used 6-meter coke ovens in China. The charging vehicles, coke-pushing vehicles, coking vehicles, and quenching cars are equipped with advanced technologies such as negative pressure dust removal, significantly reducing environmental impact. The control system also features automatic ground alignment and centralized control, greatly improving automation and operational efficiency. What once required eight workers can now be done by just four. The introduction of the first 7.63-meter coke oven machinery in the country has generated significant interest within the metallurgical industry. Many users have already visited and expressed strong interest. Currently, the second set of equipment is being commissioned by Maanshan Iron and Steel Group, while the third set has already been contracted with Wuhan Iron and Steel Group. Additionally, Shougang Group is preparing to purchase five sets of similar equipment as part of its relocation and transformation plan. This development marks a major step forward for China’s heavy machinery industry, showcasing its growing technological capabilities and global competitiveness.
