Thank you for being part of an inspiring journey that has transformed the lives of students at Nejambezi Secondary School, located in Jambezi Village near Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Your generous support has helped provide 120 students with Buffalo Bicycles, giving them the freedom to travel safely and reliably to school every day.
At World Bicycle Relief, we believe that access to education is a powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and disease. For many students in rural areas, distance is one of the biggest barriers to attending school. A bicycle isn’t just a mode of transport—it’s a lifeline that opens up new opportunities and helps build brighter futures.

COMMUNITY-LED PROGRAM
Alongside the distribution of bicycles, our Bicycles for Education Empowerment Program (BEEP) empowers local communities by training selected members to form the Bicycle Supervisory Committee (BSC). This group plays a key role in ensuring the program runs smoothly and that each bike is used responsibly.
The BSC selects students based on their distance from school and other vulnerability factors. They also set guidelines to ensure that the bicycles are well-maintained and used effectively. Monthly meetings allow the committee to report on progress and address any challenges they encounter.
In addition, we train a local field mechanic who can perform repairs and maintenance. This not only keeps the program running but also provides long-term economic benefits for the community.

BICYCLE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
The Bicycle Distribution Ceremony is a joyful event where students and their families come together to celebrate this important milestone. During the ceremony, students sign a contract agreeing to use the bicycle responsibly and attend school regularly. In return, the bike becomes their personal property after graduation.
This event not only marks the beginning of a new chapter for the students but also strengthens the bond between the community, the school, and the organization supporting them.
