The China Machinery Industry Federation and the China Electricity Council recently held a new product appraisal meeting at the Beijing Science Hall. A major breakthrough was announced as the 600 MW supercritical boiler developed by the Shanghai Boiler Plant, based on the digestion and absorption of imported technologies, has reached international advanced standards. Experts from the appraisal committee unanimously approved the product, marking a significant milestone in China's power equipment industry. This 2×600 MW supercritical boiler, installed at Jiangsu Zhenjiang Power Generation Co., Ltd., is the first large-scale unit manufactured by the Shanghai Boiler Plant. It was developed using imported technology from Alstom America, combined with specific user requirements. The boiler features a simple hydrophobic expansion starting system, which enhances efficiency and reduces coal consumption. Its nitrogen oxide emissions are below national standards, making it not only environmentally friendly but also highly efficient. During the appraisal process, experts evaluated the boiler’s performance in terms of parameters, emissions, and combustion efficiency, concluding that it meets or exceeds international benchmarks. Over the past year, the boiler has demonstrated stable operation, with all key performance indicators aligning with or surpassing design expectations. This reliability and performance have made it a trusted choice for power generation. The successful appraisal highlights that the Shanghai Boiler Plant has mastered the design and manufacturing of supercritical boilers through both technology absorption and independent innovation. It now possesses the capability to independently develop and produce large-scale supercritical units.
