Green New Energy, Shaanxi Automobile Leads the Way! On May 16, the Shaanxi Natural Gas Heavy Truck Promotion Conference was held in Binxian County, a key coal base in western China. Representatives from Shaanxi Heavy Truck Special Vehicle Sales Company, Hongsheng Industrial Co., Ltd., and over 130 participants from Xi'an Yigao Accessibility Clean Energy Co., Ltd., along with local leaders, distributors, service providers, and users, attended the event. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the Chinese government emphasized energy conservation and emission reduction, pushing for the development of eco-friendly vehicles. Low-cost, energy-efficient natural gas-powered heavy trucks have become a growing trend in the industry. Shaanxi Automobile successfully developed its CNG and LNG heavy trucks under the national "863 Project," making it a symbol of China's green new energy truck movement. At the conference, the DeLong F2000 model—featuring three top Chinese brands and four well-known trademarks—received high praise. This vehicle is the first domestically produced heavy truck powered by clean and affordable compressed natural gas. It offers high efficiency, energy savings, low cost, strong performance, environmental friendliness, safety, and reliability. Its technology is both domestically pioneering and internationally advanced. Over 2,000 CNG and LNG trucks are currently on the road, saving more than 40% in fuel costs, which has made them very popular among users. To support national energy-saving initiatives and reduce transportation costs, Shaanxi Auto Hongsheng and Yigao are promoting the use of natural gas trucks between Binxian Coalfields and cities like Xi’an and Xianyang. According to Ding Shaoping, deputy general manager of Hongsheng, Binxian is the second-largest coalfield in Shaanxi, producing 20 million tons annually. Wanshengtong, a subsidiary of Hongsheng, handles most of the coal transportation. Previously, diesel trucks were used, but after testing Shaanxi’s natural gas heavy trucks, the economic benefits became clear. The company plans to purchase 100 natural gas trucks by year-end for transporting coal from Binxian to Xi’an and Xianyang. Currently, Shaanxi Automobile’s green energy trucks hold over 90% of the market share, filling several national gaps and leading the country in technology. User Ma Chuncang shared his experience with the cost savings of Shaanqi’s natural gas trucks. He noted that for a round trip of 440 km from Binxian’s Xiagougou mine to Linfen Xinfeng Town, a diesel truck would cost 4.89 yuan per liter, while a natural gas truck only costs 520 yuan at a discounted rate of 2.4 yuan per liter. This saves 280 yuan per trip, and with an average of 22 trips per month, the annual savings reach 73,920 yuan. Additionally, the natural gas trucks perform better in harsh environments, with good climbing ability, reasonable turning angles, and improved comfort. Refueling is safer and more convenient than diesel. After over a year of use, he reported no major issues and expressed full confidence in the trucks. Refueling infrastructure has always been a concern for natural gas truck users. Elcometer General Manager Yi Zhen-li addressed this by explaining that the company has invested heavily in supporting natural gas vehicles. Since 2007, they have operated 30 Shaanxi Automobile Royal Depot trucks as a pilot project, building two well-functioning CNG stations capable of driving up to 500 km on a single tank. They are also constructing two more stations in Binxian and Shuangzhao, along with investing 9 million yuan in gas tankers to ensure a stable supply. In the next two years, they aim to support 800–1,000 natural gas trucks, effectively solving user concerns. In today’s competitive heavy truck market, Shaanxi Natural Gas Trucks are gaining popularity due to their impressive economic benefits and excellent after-sales service.
