Dennis McGuire, Jr. recently discovered two active rigs being built at Ferrara Fire Apparatus, which you can view here. He shared that one of the units is destined for the Calumet Park Fire Department, part of MABAS 22. This will be their first 100-foot tower ladder, mounted on an HME chassis. The new apparatus will replace both a ladder truck and a pumper, which have already been traded in.
The unit is currently under construction and features a 100-foot boom, marking a significant upgrade for the department. A photo from Ferrara Fire Apparatus shows the tower ladder in progress, highlighting its impressive size and design.
The second rig is a pumper for the Huntley Fire Department, which serves both MABAS 2 and MABAS 5. It's a top-mount pumper equipped with a 1,500-GPM pump and 750 gallons of water, built on a Ferrara Ember chassis. The unit has already undergone pump testing at the facility, ensuring it meets the highest standards before delivery.
Fire Service, Inc., the local dealer for Wheeled Coach Ambulances, has shared several photos of recent ambulance deliveries. In Berwyn, two new ambulances have arrived, enhancing emergency response capabilities. In Melrose Park, Ambulance 701 has been upgraded with a brand-new unit, while Summit Fire Department received a Type I ambulance last month. Oak Lawn Fire Department also took delivery of a new ambulance for Ambulance 2, following the arrival of a similar unit for Ambulance 1 earlier in the year.
These updates reflect ongoing efforts to modernize and improve emergency services across the region. Thanks to Martin Nowak for bringing attention to these new Wheeled Coach units.
