Fujitsu and Fujitsu Laboratories have unveiled the world's first commercial 10Gb small form factor pluggable (XFP) optical transceiver designed for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). This groundbreaking product enables the development of compact, high-speed DWDM optical transmission systems that are not only smaller in size but also more cost-effective. The transceiver is scheduled to be available on the market in March 2006. According to industry reports, miniaturizing optical transceivers has always been a major challenge, especially when it comes to meeting the strict standards of DFP-compliant XFP modules. Fujitsu and its research division have successfully overcome these obstacles by introducing innovative compact transceiver circuits, low-power optical components, and advanced heat sink designs.
