Fujitsu's first DWDM commercial 10Gb XFP optical transceiver comes out

Fujitsu and Fujitsu Laboratories have unveiled the world's first commercial 10Gb small form factor pluggable (XFP) optical transceiver designed for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM). This groundbreaking device is set to revolutionize high-speed optical communication by enabling the development of more compact, cost-effective DWDM transmission systems. The product is scheduled for release in March 2006, marking a significant milestone in the evolution of optical networking technology. One of the main challenges in developing this transceiver was achieving miniaturization while maintaining performance standards. In addition to the general complexities of reducing the size of optical transceivers, creating DFP-compliant XFP modules posed further technical hurdles.
