Recently, China's first independently developed 1,000-ton small waterplane area twin-hull (SWATH) vessel, the "Northern 9:91," was officially delivered in Dalian. This groundbreaking ship was designed collaboratively by the 701 and 702 Research Institutes under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). The successful completion of this project marks a significant milestone, as it places China among the world's leading nations in the development of advanced SWATH technology. Due to the complexity involved in designing and constructing such vessels, only a few countries have managed to produce them so far. The "Northern 9:91" is not only a testament to China's growing maritime engineering capabilities but also a symbol of its commitment to innovation in naval architecture.
