Recently, China's first domestically developed 1,000-ton small waterplane area twin-hull (SWATH) vessel, the "Northern 9:91," was officially delivered in Dalian. This groundbreaking ship was jointly designed by the 701 and 702 Research Institutes under the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC). The successful launch of the "Northern 9:91" marks a significant milestone, as it places China among the world’s leading nations in the development of advanced SWATH technology. These vessels are known for their exceptional stability and performance in rough seas, making them ideal for scientific research, maritime exploration, and naval operations. Due to the high level of engineering complexity involved, only a few countries have managed to develop such vessels, which makes this achievement even more remarkable. With this new capability, China is now well-positioned to advance its maritime technology and contribute to global efforts in oceanic research and innovation.
