August 24th is Ukraine’s Independence Day, and it also marks the 6-month anniversary of Russia’s unprovoked invasion. For Delfast, a Ukrainian startup, this day carries deep emotional weight. Over the past 182 days, our team has faced unimaginable challenges: evacuations from dangerous areas, living in shelters, leaving behind homes, becoming refugees, and enduring the trauma of separation from loved ones.

Yet, through all of this, we have not stopped. In fact, we've adapted and innovated—developing new manufacturing and shipping solutions, and even working on future bike technologies. Beyond our work at Delfast, every team member has found ways to support their country, whether through volunteering, fundraising, or simply being there for others.

For us, it's more than just duty—it's love. Ukraine is still home to over 30 of our employees, each with their own reasons to stay, fight, and contribute. Here are some personal stories from our team that highlight why we love our country so much.

    Ukrainians Are Great People

“When I first started building the Delfast business model in Ukraine over seven years ago, it felt like the right fit. We always found the right people to work with. But beyond being hardworking and team players, they’ve always made me feel like part of a family. Even now, during these tough times, it’s been incredible to continue working together and supporting each other.”

    - Serhii Denysenko, COO

After sending his family to safety, Serhii returned to Kyiv and has remained there since March 3, 2022. He has been delivering essential supplies like food, clothes, and medicine to Hostomel, which was occupied by Russian forces. He also helps an elderly neighbor who couldn’t flee. Serhii believes that emotional support is as vital as material aid during times of crisis.

    Ukraine Makes Great Products

“We’re proud to have developed and manufactured the iconic Delfast e-bike in Ukraine. But our country’s innovation goes far beyond that. From AI and education tech to fashion and smart home solutions, Ukrainians are making waves globally. If you want to see more, visit Spend with Ukraine. You’ll be amazed at how many world-class products have Ukrainian roots.”

    - Serhii Dovhopoly, CTO

Serhii has been helping evacuate women and children from dangerous zones in Kyiv since the war began. As an IT professional, he joined the Ukrainian ‘IT Army,’ contributing to cybersecurity efforts and organizing DDoS attacks against Russian government sites to disrupt propaganda. His work is a testament to the resilience of the Ukrainian tech community.

    We Have Breathtaking Nature

“Before the war, whenever I needed a break, I’d travel. Ukraine is full of beauty. From the rolling hills near Kyiv to the Carpathian Mountains and the Black Sea coast, every corner of the country has its own charm. Even though some areas are currently under occupation, we will reclaim them.”

    - Olena Matsueva, Head of Customer Care

Olena’s youngest brother is serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces. To support him and his unit, she sends supplies like clothes, equipment, and even homemade cookies and drawings from her daughter. She believes small gestures can make a big difference in boosting morale.

Our Cities Are Modern & Authentic

“Kyiv is a city of contrasts. You can find quiet streets in the heart of the city, or step into a high-tech district after walking through historic neighborhoods. Russia may try to take our cities, but we won’t let that happen.”

    - Viktoria Bardyk, Head of Logistics

Viktoria has been coordinating humanitarian aid from Europe to Ukraine. Though she had to leave her home initially, she returned quickly—because home is where the heart is.

    We Are Cooperative Citizens

“When something threatens Ukrainians, we act. Whether we're in LA or a small town, we build networks and help wherever needed. Our team is a perfect example. After the invasion, we didn’t just volunteer—we created new solutions. That’s our strength.”

    - Daniel Tonkopi, CEO

Daniel is actively supporting Ukraine from Los Angeles, working with local leaders and activists to raise awareness. He’s a founding member of ULAW and regularly meets with U.S. lawmakers to share the real impact of the war on everyday Ukrainians.

Ukrainians Have an Eagerness to Help

“This isn’t the first time I’ve experienced a war brought by Russia. I was born in Georgia and had to flee in 2008. But here, in Ukraine, I found my family. I believe what we have here is worth fighting for.”

    - Fedir, Sales Manager

Fedir has been organizing evacuations and providing supplies to both defenders and civilians. He sees his work as a way to give back to the people who helped him when he needed it most.

    Providing Connectivity to the World

“Goodness comes from within, and it’s our responsibility to bring it into the world. Delfast does this by connecting people across borders. That’s our strength.”

    - Joseph Konrad, Customer Support Team Lead

Joseph has been delivering medical supplies and power equipment to Ukrainian defenders. He’s also secured support from Estonian investors and entrepreneurs, believing that unity is the key to overcoming adversity.

    Delfast Is Making an Impact

Our team’s passion and dedication speak volumes. Since the invasion, Delfast has contributed in the following ways:

    • Donating bikes to Ukrainian defenders and volunteers
    • Participating in rallies across California
    • Supporting initiatives like ULAW
    • Three team members are currently serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces
    • Sharing war experiences with U.S. lawmakers through ULAW
    • Donating 5% of all sales revenue to humanitarian causes

Without your support, none of this would be possible. Thank you for standing with us.
