The China National Development and Investment Corporation successfully completed the 1.2 million tons of potash fertilizer project developed in Lop Nur in Xinjiang and successfully passed the acceptance check. The completion of the project will ease the contradiction of shortage of potash fertilizer in China, increase the supply of domestic potash fertilizer market and stabilize prices.
According to the National Development and Investment Corporation, Xinjiang Lop Nur Potash Company (abbreviated as Guotou Luo Ka), this project is the first phase of the company's annual output of 3 million tons of potash fertilizer project. The second phase of the project has entered the construction phase, including an annual output of 100,000 tons of potassium sulfate magnesium fertilizer plant, an annual output of 600,000 tons of potassium sulfate plant and an annual output of 1 million tons of potassium sulfate magnesium fertilizer plant. The total production capacity of the company is expected to reach 3 million tons in 2015. There are 5,000 employees.
The enrichment of potash resources in Lop Nor area in Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang is a key area for China to identify the concentrated distribution of potash mineral resources. The accumulated proven resources are about 120 million tons, and about 36 million tons can be mined and utilized. Lop Nur Salt Lake is 115 kilometers north, 90 kilometers east-west, and an area of ​​10,350 square kilometers. It is one of the largest dry salt lakes in the world.
With the investment of 1.2 trillion tons of Potassium Fertilizers from Guotou Petrochemical Co., Ltd., the 100 million-ton potassium salt resource base in Luobupo quickly transformed into production capacity, which greatly increased the self-sufficiency rate of potassium salt in China, and changed the former potassium salt production pattern in Chailhan Salt Lake in Qinghai Province.

At present, China's shortage of potassium arable land exceeds half of the total cultivated land.
