A mobile application on the Samsung Mobile App Challenge today to help consumers save on electricity bills and improve home safety. The app designed by Wattcost, an Australian high-tech company, is suitable for Apple iOS and Google Android devices. The application can provide users with real-time alerts through wireless signals to help consumers identify household energy-consuming appliances. The app is free, but users will still need to order the included wireless lighthouse for $169.
Wattcost will work with Singapore Telecom Group and Samsung to sell its applications for over 5 million mobile customers in Asia and Africa. The app will also be placed on Samsung's content and service platform. Since May of this year, the contest has had 500 contestants and come from different regions, including Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Thailand and India. At today’s media conference, Singapore Telecom CEO Ma Chong said: “Samsung Mobile Application Challenge is part of our efforts to promote innovation, and mobile devices are becoming an increasingly common market in Asia.â€
