    The 700 MW large-scale all-air cold water turbine generator with the largest single unit capacity, the largest structural size and the largest thrust load independently developed, designed and manufactured by Harbin Electric has been highly praised by many experts.     The cooling methods of large hydroelectric generators mainly include three types: full air cooling, semi water cooling and evaporative cooling. Among them, the full air cooling method adopts air that does not require any cost input as a medium, and has the characteristics of simple structure, simple installation, convenient maintenance, high reliability, low accident rate, convenient start and stop, and the like. However, this kind of cooling method can only be used in hydro-generators with a single unit of less than 400 MW. For large-scale hydro-generators over 600 MW, it is widely believed that there are many technical obstacles to using full-air cooling. Semi-water cooled design and manufacturing technology. Therefore, the manufacture of a 700 MW class air-to-air cold water turbine generator has become a worldwide problem.

    On the large stage provided by the Three Gorges Project, Harbin Electric has the courage to challenge, break the technical limits of air and cold design in the past, and put forward its own new design ideas, forming a set of ventilation design and calculation methods. The overall coordinated design, optimization and innovation of electromagnetic calculation, structure, ventilation and cooling system and insulation system of all air-cooled motors. Successfully designed and independently manufactured 700 MW full-air-cooled giant hydro-generators for Longtan Hydropower Station and Three Gorges Right Bank Power Station.

    In May of this year, the first 700 MW air-cooled giant hydro-generator unit of Longtan Power Station was successfully connected to the grid. Subsequently, Unit 26 of the Three Gorges Right Bank Power Station was successfully connected to the grid on July 10. From the current operational practice, the 700 MW full air-cooled giant hydro-generator manufactured by Harbin Electric has achieved the overall goal of appropriate total air volume, reasonable air volume distribution, uniform wind speed and good cooling effect.
