Flyability and IQ Motion Control announce partnership to build active collision tolerance into drones

Flyability and IQ Motion Control have officially announced their exclusive partnership, a collaboration that was integral to the development of the Elios 2 drone. This partnership has led to the creation of an advanced, collision-tolerant propulsion system designed for use in complex indoor environments. The Elios 2 represents a major leap forward in drone technology, offering superior image quality and an intuitive user experience. Its groundbreaking design includes a protective frame that shields the propulsion system from damage, while IQ Motion Control’s cutting-edge technology ensures rapid stabilization after collisions. Combined with Flyability's proprietary flight control algorithms, this innovation delivers unmatched safety and ease of use in challenging indoor settings. IQ’s motors are particularly impressive, as they can reverse direction instantly and respond up to four times faster than conventional motor/controller setups. "IQ technology is unique in the UAV market because it eliminates delays when reversing and provides precise, real-time control over propeller speed," explains Tim Corti, a lead propulsion engineer at Flyability. In addition to improved responsiveness, IQ’s motors are more efficient, powerful, and offer greater flexibility in control parameters. As a key investor in the development of the IQ motor module, Flyability holds exclusive rights to use this technology in indoor commercial applications requiring collision tolerance. "Flyability recognized the potential of our technology early on and has worked closely with us for over a year to bring it to market," says Jon Broome, co-founder of IQ. "We're thrilled to see them succeed and look forward to continuing our collaboration." IQ Motion Control is an American company specializing in high-performance electric motors and controllers. By integrating advanced hardware and software, IQ enhances motor efficiency and gives users greater control over their drones. Flyability, based in Switzerland, develops innovative solutions for inspecting and exploring hard-to-reach indoor spaces. Their drones enable safer operations in confined areas, helping industries reduce costs, downtime, and risks. With a global customer base across multiple sectors, Flyability continues to lead the way in commercial indoor drone technology.
