From Scott Peterson:
I came across this fire truck while driving through Hebron, Illinois. It was purchased from a Skokie firefighter by Doug Reno. The truck will be on display at the Illinois Railway Museum this weekend and the following two weekends. It's set to be part of a steam engine exhibit.
The piping on the driver’s side was specially fabricated to allow for a quick-fill method when the rig is in Union to fill the steam engine *The Leviathan*. The truck is in excellent condition and is equipped with a WLF model, specifically numbered 80-1129.
Here are some photos of the 1975 Ward LaFrance Ambassador engine from Wadsworth, Ohio. These images give a good look at the vehicle's exterior and overall appearance. If you're a fan of vintage fire apparatus or historical vehicles, this is definitely worth checking out if you're near the museum.
It's always exciting to see these classic rigs being preserved and shared with the public. I hope more people get the chance to appreciate them.
