Overview of gold recovery from copper anode mud

Copper anode mud is composed of various materials in which copper anode is insoluble in electrolyte during electrolytic refining. Its composition mainly depends on the composition of copper anode, casting quality and technical conditions of electrolysis. Anode slime from copper sulfide concentrate containing more Cu, Se, Ag, Pb, Te and a small amount of Au, Sb, Bi, As and gangue minerals, platinum group metal less; and from copper-nickel The anode mud of sulfide ore contains more Cu, Ni, S and Se. The precious metal is mainly platinum group metal, and the content of Au, Ag and Pb is less. The anode mud produced by copper electrolysis contains higher Pb and Sn. . The composition of anode slime of some copper smelters at home and abroad is shown in Table 1.

The phase composition of copper anode mud is relatively complicated, and various metals exist in various forms. Gold is present in a free state, but also in combination with tellurium (AgAu) Te 2; predominantly silver Ag, Ag 2 Se, Ag 2 Te, CuAgSe, (AgAu) Te 2, AgCl; the platinum group metal occurrence state; Cu 70 % is in the form of a metal, and the remaining copper is present in the form of Cu 2 S, Cu 2 Se, and Cu 2 Te. Copper anode mud is quite stable. Oxidation is not obvious at room temperature. When air is used as the oxidant, it can be slowly dissolved in sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid, and can directly react strongly with nitric acid.
