International Rectifier Introduces PVY117 Series Microelectronic Relays

International Rectifier (IR) has introduced the PVY117 series of microelectronic relays. This product replaces reed relays with fragile moving parts and metal contacts for greater reliability.
It is understood that this product has lower requirements on starting current than electromechanical relays, which helps to reduce power consumption. In addition, the PVY117 series of microelectronic relays are also smaller than the electromechanical relays that will be replaced.
The product is capable of bump-free operation, its on-state contact resistance and shutdown state capacitance are relatively low, and it can perform well in semiconductor automatic test equipment (ATE) and related electronic instrument circuits with low voltage and high test frequency.
Experts believe that the solid structure of the new microelectronic relay can avoid contact wear, improve the reliability of the end product, and help to extend the service life. In addition, PVY117 is available in ultra-micro surface mount packages, making it ideal for high energy density applications.
