Germany began to study 5G wireless communication technology

    The Technical University of Dresden (TU-Dresden) in Germany established a laboratory earlier to explore 5G wireless communication systems beyond LTE-Advanced. The research results of this 5G wireless laboratory are expected to be used in the next stage of the global wireless communication standard setting process. Although the study will include a variety of system-level concepts, special emphasis will be placed on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) technology, while also extending the current 8x8 multi-antenna MIMO technology.

    Compared with 3.5G and 4G systems, 5G wireless systems are still in the very early stage of research. TU-Dresden has worked with Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems and is a leader in 3G system research. The agency has been focusing on advanced wireless communication technology research and using LabVIEW system design software from National Instruments National Instruments. New configuration modeling and testing using modular PXI technology.

    "NI's RF and communications tools allow us to implement OFDM prototype systems with a single software design flow," said Gerhard Fettweis, director of Vodafone Chair Mobile Communications Systems. “With the modular NI PXI system, we can start with the SISO link and gradually expand into a complex MIMO configuration that can exceed the 8x8 configuration with a small amount of code modification.”
